(More customer reviews)First, seller advertises that this is Kwikset MAXIMUM Security Brand. It is not. It is Kwikset Security (at least Kwikset Security was the brand I received.) There is a big difference because you can buy Kwikset Security for less at Lowes or Home Depot and you don't have to wait a week for your combo pack. Second, the product description says "Meets ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 Security with a 10 year Mechanical and 5 year Finish Warranty." However, the package clearly indicates only Grade 3. Another big difference. These are the differences I have found so far. In consequence, Kwikset is a great brand, but beware that you are not buying the better Kwikset Maximum Security brand. You are buying the lesser brand of Kwikset Security.

(More customer reviews)I wanted the keyless entry with an ability to set/reset multiple codes as needed (family, house-sitter, etc.). When I go for a run I do not want to have to carry a key. It works great and provides all the features I neede. It fits into the existing deadbolt holes and the color and texture matched the door handle I already had and did not want to change. The only issue I have is that it can be a bit difficult to turn sometimes. It is feels as if it binds sometimes. I am still looking into that.

1) The numbers in the combination can be entered in ANY ORDER, exponentially reducing the number of possible combinations. If you choose 2345, you could also open the lock if you push 5432, 3245, any other order of those digits, or if you push those 4 digits simultaneously.
2) The lock as purchased only allows you to choose up to 4 digits for your combination. You have to send away and pay more for the other 2 digits.

Kwikset 665 26D CP CODE RCAL RCS Double-Cylinder Deadbolt, Satin Chrome Review

(More customer reviews)After purchasing my first house, I replaced the two deadbolts in the house with double cylinder Kwikset deadbolts. Both deadbolts were keyed the same from the factory.
Installation of the locks was simple (I did not even refer to the directions until after I was finished). Installation was only about 10 minutes (including removing the old lock).
The deadbolts did their job. All keys worked great in both locks, just as they are supposed to. However, after about 1 year, I was having difficulties with the keys getting stuck in the locks. The locks would get hard to turn and the keys difficult to remove. I had to pull the key out with a pair of channel locks only one or two uses after noticing the lock was sticking slightly. The problem was easily fixed with a little lubricant. Eventually, I broke a key off in the lock trying to remove it after sticking. Admittedly, I did not lubricate the locks every six months as the manufacturer recommends.
I had no problem with the finish on the locks. They look as good as the day I bought them. I did mix Schage and Kwikset components on the door and the Antique Brass finish from the two companies is definitely not the same color. The difference in the shades is tolerable, but it is obviously different.
Kwikset was cheaper than Schlage when I purchased the deadbolt. If you are a little short of money, the Kwikset deadbolt does the job, just be sure to remember to lubricate the lock twice a year to avoid problems. If you can afford the extra $10 or so, I'd recommend buying the Schlage brand instead.

Kaba Ilco LL1011-26D Mechanical Pushbutton Combination Lock with Lever, Left Hand, No Key Override, Satin Chrome Finish Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Kaba Ilco LL1011-26D (with a left hand lever) on Amazon for 1/2 price that I could buy this locally. The product arrived at my pick up location in Niagara Falls, NY, two days after I ordered with the Super Saver free shipping option. This is a very heavy duty, high quality, industrial duty door lock. It is made in the USA.
Before installing the lock, I read the instructions cover to cover. I found the instructions to be clear and concise, and the lock was a breeze to install. You will need a 2 1/8" holesaw and a 1" holesaw to install.
The combination is easy to change following the instructions in the manual. There are five keys (1-5) on this door lock. For the combination, you can only press each key once, so the maximum combination is limited to five keystrokes. Also, to make it a bit more difficult to figure out the combination, it is possible to program a combination where you press two keys at the same time.
Be careful when ordering. The photo of the left hand lever door lock and the right hand lever door lock are identical on Amazon.com. The photo that is shown for the Kaba Ilco LR1011-26D right hand lever (above) is incorrect. The photo actually depicts the left hand lever version. There is no explanation of this in either description. I had to spend some time researching this online before I ordered mine. Everything turned out OK, but I was still a little apprehensive that I might have to return the lock until I actually opened the box and saw that it was the correct one. My recommendation is that the vendor take an actual photo of the product they are selling rather than using this generic photo. This would definitely eliminate any possible confusion.
Based on my internet research, I learned that my door is considered to be a "right hand" door (ie. the door handle is on the right hand side of the door when the door is pulled open toward me), however, it takes a "left hand" lever door lock - a little bit confusing for a novice like me.
Other than the potential "left hand" vs. "right hand" lever confusion, I am very happy with this purchase on Amazon.com.

(More customer reviews)This keypad deadbolt is a great replacement for a standard deadbolt. Here's what I like about it:
1. This product is a deadbolt that you can lock and unlock without a key. Instead, you enter a 4 digit password to lock and unlock the door. Using a code to unlock the door is much faster and easier than fumbling for keys. Also, you'll never be locked out unless your forget your code.
2. If you have a deadbolt on your door, you can easily remove it and install this deadbolt using a regular screwdriver.
3. You can set multiple codes (at least 5) to allow friends to access your home. You can easily delete the codes later when access is no longer required. Codes are set up using a 6 digit master password (which can be used to add and delete 4-digit access codes, but not to lock or unlock the door).
4. You can lock the door without the code. Just press the rectangular Schlage button (at the top) and turn the knob to the right, and your door is locked. You will still need a valid code to unlock the door. This makes locking up when you leave very convenient.
5. This lock can be made "bump-proof." Bumping is a relatively new, and very easy way to pick most deadbolts. It can be done in about 10 seconds and renders most current locks worthless as security devices. If you want to know more, search the internet for "bump key" and you'll be horrified at what you see. If you take this deadbolt to your locksmith before installing it and tell him to disable the key mechanism, your deadbolt will be completely resistant to bumping (and keys). I haven't used a key to get into my house since I've installed this.
6. The keypad is backlit, but only if you push the schlage key before you enter your code.
7. The unit uses a standard 9-volt battery. I've had mine for more than a year and haven't needed to replace it.
8. The one feature that I wish this deadbolt had was time based entry rules. I'd love to create a password which only works during certain hours, so that a housekeeper could access the house on a certain day or at a certain time. Alas, nothing is perfect...
