(More customer reviews)The lamp holds 4 CFLs. Very bright. However, a couple of the CFLs that were included with the lamp buzz when hot. I swapped out the bulbs for 5k (full-spectrum) bulbs and am very happy. It is a tight fit though for the two bulbs that face each other, so make sure to look at the overall length of replacement bulbs. My replacement bulbs are a little too long so I left one of the older (warm spectrum) ones in there.
Great way to get 100+ watts of CFLs: similar light level to a 500 watt halogen, but obviously more efficient.
Also note that the sockets are the new GU24 base, so screw type bulbs will not work.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this lamp to replace a similar styled but smaller lamp behind my sectional sofa. The old lamp was the type that screwed together in several sections and tended to fall over as the threads were stripping out. I mention this because this lamp consisted of three pieces - the base, the bottom section, and the top section. The lamp assembled securely and I am confident that this will last - unlike the other reviewer I did not have any issue with the spot welds and do not recollect them at all (The lamp is behind the couch - I don't look at the base much).
The biggest complaint that I have with this lamp is that it does not use traditional light bulbs, so I cannot put in the CFL bulbs that I removed from the old lamp. This lamp uses the smaller base bulbs (I don't know what they are called) and does come with all five bulbs. When I first put the lamp together I was concerned that the 5 40-watt bulbs would not put out adequate light, but I am pleased to say that the lamp is pretty bright and I usually turn the dimmer-style switch to about half way as it is enough light.
I would certainly purchase this again.

I wanted a floor lamp that did not have the round flat disk base that most floor lamps rest on because I'm sick of that look. So this one is at least different with its tripod legs and it is handy to move near a project needing extra light. The height of the lamp is adjustable, it's very versatile. I like that I can aim the beam at a wall to get indirect lighting in a room. But for the price, and I realize there are lamps out there costing waaaaaaaaay more than this one, but for around $75 I expected something better than what I got. I have a desk lamp that I bought many years ago at Walmart for about ten bucks and the quality far exceeds that of this floor lamp. It works and all that but it just has a sort of flimsy, cheap feel to it. The on/off knob feels flimsy as do the knobs that loosen and tighten to hold the shade at the desired angle. First try and the knobs won't turn enough, more force and you ge them loose, then to tighten you turn them, they feel tight, let go of the shade and it falls forward so more force on the cheap knobs and it stays put. If I had found this at Dollar General for ten dollars I'd be raving about it, even if I had paid $20 and I'd be happy. But no way is this lamp worth $75. Still, I'm keeping it. Update: I did discover that there was a bolt loose inside the shade and by tightening it the shade stays put better when I re-aim it.

Swivel Floor Lamp with Frosted Shade in Chrome Finish Review

(More customer reviews)I was excited to put these lamps together and read through the instructions completely, laying out the pieces in order. The instructions indicated that it would take 20 to assemble...I had two of them and it took 2 hours to assemble. The instructions did not indicate to start from the top down - once i finished the first one I thought well the second is going to be a piece of cake. Not so much - I quickly assembled the poles, only to realize that there was a nut missing for the base. I had to go to Lowe's and purchase a packet of nuts because they don't sell the size I needed seperately.
After i finished putting the stand together the thread on to assemble the shade was not properly threaded so it took an aweful lot of determination and muscle power to make it screw on.
When I was done I was so thrilled. Despite all of the labor - I do really like the lamps and they do provide ample lighting. If you have a darker room make sure you buy two.

(More customer reviews)I first bought the table lamp version of this to replace a lamp that broke. This gives a softer light and still stands nicely as a gleaming steel lamp. My living room is not wildly modern but it has steel appointments -- drapery rods, fireplace screen and now two very nice lamps that cast more than sufficient light. It compliments the brick on my fireplace and the large (3 ft by 4 ft) steel sculpture hanging above the mantle.
It comes in four sections ready to screw together and already wired up (HOORAY). The trick is to screw it together from the bottom up and tug the electric cords out through the base. Not hard at all but cumbersome. It's a nice, tall lamp. The base is a good weight and the lamp will not rock or tip easily.

(More customer reviews)I love this lamp. You don't really find such an expensive-taste-looking lamp around for this small price. It really gives the feeling of a classy and modern environment. It looks good with black/white living room designs. I wish there was a dimmer connected to the cable, but unfortunately there is not one, so you can only switch it on/off by stepping on the switch.
Very easy to assemble. It took me just 15 minutes.

Each Shimmy lamp has a three-tier shade. Several rows of 2-1/2-inch chrome framed round paper disks dangle from each tier. The disks rotate freely, catching light from inside and outside the shade.
