No need to touch the faucet handle - just a slight push and you've got water in your hand, on your washcloth or on your tooth brush. Release the pressure and the water shuts off. No need for little ones to have to reach the faucet handles, just the end of the faucet. Sturdy -- can't remember how long we've had this particular item in *full time* use! (not merely weekends)
