Flimsy - that's the best word to describe these towel bars. I looked all over and settled on the ICON series by Moen. Why? (sigh) I don't know at this point - they fit the style of my bathroom. I bought the whole ICON series - the bath, the sink, the shower, the towel bars, hand towel holder, bathrobe hook, toilet paper holder and 2 towel bars. However, from Amazon, I only bought the two towel bars, hand towel holder and toilet paper holder.
I ordered ahead, so the package sat on my counter until the contractor was ready to install. I was stunned when I opened the towel bar box. They were only 1/2" wide, less than 2" in circumference. A soaking web bathtowel could pull them off a wall. I must note here that my contractor was cussing the installation hardware the entire time. Looked completely different to me = but maybe that's just cause I use to less expensive hardware.
When bathroom was finished, I was hanging a picture above one of the bars, stepped back and my elbow tapped - literally "tapped" the end of the towel bar and loosened it. Contractor came to fix. Had to pull the entire wierd hardware off the wall, broke some of the wallboard, and then we both cried :).
I called the Amazon vendor who sold these and of course it was too late to return them. I had wanted to return and buy a different style that I thought would coordinate ok with the rest of the ICON, but when they wouldn't return, I wouldn't buy. I'll go take my chances with Home Depot, which is where I actually ordered all the other Icon pieces.
Just don't waste your money on these. They look good, but they are way too flimsy to be serious towel bars!
