During the summer of 2009, a friend and I rode our bicycles from Kentucky to Western New York State. We each pulled a trailer with our camping equipment and a bag of tools. The one tool we needed, but did not have, was a small adjustable wrench.
I have four bicycles that I use for various purposes and decided to add a 4" adjustable wrench to each of the four tool kits. My criteria was good quality with light weight. My choices were Crescent and Channellock; I ordered one of each for comparison.
The Channellock was slightly longer, but slimmer and weighed slightly less than the Crescent. The Channellock operated more smoothly and appeared to be manufactured with more precision and quality than the Crescent (Sad, because the Crescent is made in the USA, the Channellock in Spain). In addition, the Channellock has a scale embossed on the head that indicates jaw opening in both SAE and metric measure. I chose the Channellock for each of my four toolkits.
