The base is a bit too small, so it must be placed in close proximity to where you need it (i.e., the throne), so you can hold with one hand while you pull the paper with the other. If you pull from further away, it will tip. This is not a negative in a sense, because I specifically chose this one due to its base size... for a half bath with very little space it is ideal. You will never be too far from it anyway. Other broader-based stands would not have fit.
