(More customer reviews)I would highly recommend the Danco "separates" for a bathroom renovation. Buying a brushed nickel set from one of the branded names (Moen etc.) can get very expensive ($300-400). I was able to piece together all the parts that I needed for under $100. I am impressed with the quality and the color (I say that because some "brushed nickel" products are decidedly chrome when they arrive, but these look perfect). The expensive brands may have a slight edge on quality, but I have absolutely no complaints about what I consider a high quality product for a great price.

Moen 3931 Chrome Diverter Spouts Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this tub spout as a last ditch effort before calling a plumber to repair a pipe since the previous tub spout(s) had a screw to secure the spout to the pipe which had created a groove in the pipe. This groove caused water to spray out of the back of another new tub spout when you pulled up the diverter rod to use the shower (the replacement tub spout used same screw setup).
I found some post on the Internet that praised this particular model so I gave it a try. The main points that made me purchase this item was that it had a "yoke" that clamps around the pipe instead of the screw going into the pipe to hold it in place. It also had a cup washer/cup seal in the diverter that prevents water from leaking out of the diverter when the shower is in use. This washer is replaceable.
This tub spout worked for me. No leaking problems. The tub spout is plastic with a chrome finish. I would rather have metal, but since it saved me
from calling a plumber to fix a job that should have been easy, I will not dock it a star.

(More customer reviews)This is a much nicer spout than the crappy brands you get at Menards. It's got some weight to it. Thugh beware if you are replacing an older spout like us you're going from all brass to some plastic parts.
We needed the 1/2" IPT and when this came I almost sent it back, it wasnt super clear how to use it with threaded pipe. The trick is to remove the hex screw, then grab the white nylon insert (the smaller sleeve that fits within the larger nylon sleeve, best way I can describe) and give it a twist and pull. You're working on the inside of the spot, so no real danger of damaging the finish but I suppose the possibility exists if you aren't at all careful.
Then when you find out your pipe out of the wall isn't 2" they require for this, and in many older homes it's not - just go to a store that sells inground sprinkler parts and buy a 30c F -> M 1/2 extension, the black or green plastic kind you cut to length with a hacksaw. WORKED PERFECT! Just wrap it up real nice with teflon tape and you can get exactly the length you need.

(More customer reviews)I guess if it doesn't specify otherwise its plastic ? Perhaps your expected to look at the weight to determine whether its metal or plastic ? It also states "Brass construction" and "Solid brass construction ensures quality and reliability" but its clearly plastic with the exception of the pull-up diverter. A tad misleading.

(More customer reviews)I'm no expert, but this is a very nice tub spout. I replaced our ten-year old one due to calcium corrosion, with this one from Kohler. A neighbor told me that his H*me Dep*t one didn't last a year, when I mentioned I was looking at Kohler. I wouldn't have found this product at any local home store, so thank you Amazon.
Easy to install once the old one was removed. I recommend doing this while the hardware stores are open, just in case you need to fix the pipe that comes out of the wall.
Made in Taiwan.
